Leading Speyside whisky brand the Macallan has unveiled The Macallan 50 years old – a single malt whisky limited to just 200 bottles, each with a hefty price tag of £25,000.
Produced in suitably small stills, the spirit was laid down in oak-made Spanish sherry casks back in the 1960s.
Peat and fig…
The end product delivers lead notes of sweet vanilla and blackcurrant backed by hints of Scottish peat, in addition to notes of citrus and fig. And, given what it’ll be costing you per glass, you’ll want to savour every morsel.
Nick Savage, the Macallan’s master distiller, said: ‘After being left to mature for half a century, this wonderfully rare single malt is full of rich flavour and beautiful natural colour. This is a highly limited release, providing the chance to own something world-class and extraordinary.’
