Chivas Brothers is releasing a limited edition 50-year-old single malt whisky: The Glenlivet Winchester Collection Vintage 1966.

Only 100 bottles of the spirit are being produced and they will be priced at £20,000 each.

Created by The Glenlivet master distiller Robert Arthur in 1966, the Winchester Collection is one of the rarest whiskies in the world.

Soft and sweet
Vintage 1966 features trademark Glenlivet features: soft and sweet, with overtones of cinnamon and liquorice.

Craftsman Brodie Nairn, of Glasstorm, has produced a hand-blown glass bottle, whose flowing lines pay tribute to The Glenlivet’s Gaelic translation of ‘Valley of the Smooth Flowing One’. The bottle also features a gold stopper set with a smoky quartz Cairngorm stone and is housed in a cherry wood cabinet.

Glenlivet master distiller Alan Winchester says: ‘The release of Vintage 1966 marks another milestone for The Glenlivet Winchester Collection. Casks of this age and quality are such a rare thing these days, that the resulting single malt is literally liquid history in a glass. I’m immensely proud to release this wonderful whisky, which has been cared for and crafted over generations.
