Team effort

Hotel general manager Alasdair Elwick said: ‘To win a Michelin Star is testament to the whole team’s hard work. Each member is incredibly passionate and dedicated to providing the best experience possible; this really is an award for each and every one of them.’

Since 2011 there have been several developments to enhance the cuisine at The Samling including the addition of livestock including chickens, quails and pigs.

The hotel sits in 63 acres of grounds overlooking Lake Windermere. It has 11 rooms, some in the main building and others in cottages set amid the landscaped gardens.

The name ‘Samling’ comes from the old Norse word for a collection or group.
